Session School Graduate Terri Capon Wins Babyliss Pro Style Awards

We are so excited here at the school that one of our graduates, Terri Capon, has won the Babyliss Pro Style Awards. Cue squeals of excitement and champagne corks popping!

One of the judges, the uber amazing celebrity hairdresser Patrick Cameron, said of Terri's work: “I really loved the winning choice, the finish of this look using texture and colour plus the balance of the style really worked, and of course, suitability to model was very pleasing to the eye.”

Terri wins a stack of Babyliss Pro products and will be assisting the Babyliss Pro Team at the Salon International exhibition as part of her prize. Nice one Terri!

Terri's winning image was actually taken during her Final Photoshoot at The Session School. Her first photoshoot and she wins an award for it - clever girl! Terri says, "I really thought about the style before I created it and used a variety of techniques to achieve the final look. I gained a lot of knowledge that helped me create this style in my time training at The Session School and it was on the final photo shoot that this image was selected from."

We had a very successful first day at PURE london fashion event in Olympia yesterday!!

You should come down and see us in the chill out zone.We are literally offering free make overs using the wonderful new Bella Pierre mineral range that is like no other minerals out there! We were extremly busy on our stands as It is unbelievable what you can do with these products! Come on down and we will give you a quick lesson! we will be there until tuesday so try not to miss out!

Better still we actually run a mineral makeup workshop aimed at anyone interested in improving their skin and being creative with colour and texture! This class is not what you think it is highly creative and much to learn using various new techniques..We even show you how to make your own custom blended mineral foundation!

Finally our saturday pro makeup courses are back from september onwards! These are great if you want to stay working in your current job while you learn a new skill! They cover exactly the same course content as our weekdays pro makeup courses and are full to the brim with fantastic makeup techniques and creative classes.

Tomorrow The founder of the Session School Dani guinsberg will be creating makeup looks for a fashion shoot for Glamour magazine.All our students on our courses get the opportunity to assist Dani on photoshoots after leaving the school.

We have the most brilliant after care programme for all graduates! We search out many different types of hair and makeup jobs and secure our students work on fashion shows/fashion shoots/look books/t.v/commercials - the list is endless!

Today was amazing i got to do the grooming for a fantastic september issue shoot for Esquire magazine with the fabulous Rafe Spall!! Timothy Spall's son who recently starred in The Shadow Line!!! what an actor and what amazing photos taken by Simon Lipman.A very talented photographer indeed!

Hair trends workshops

We have decided to run a brand new workshop purely focused on hair trends.

So many people out there do not get the chance to work on the shows at fashion week so here is a chance to get the low down on how some of the looks were created!

Today we had a really lovely taster class at www.thesessionschool.com.We had some very lovely potential students who showed great enthusiasm for hair and makeup and learnt very simple techniques to enhance eyebrows naturally!

This is one of the first things i teach my students on day one of the professional makeup course!

I bet these girls are all paying a whole lot more attention to peoples eyebrows on the street

I am so looking forward to teaching some of these ladies on the next pro makeup courses

Today we are featured on page 34 of Red magazine!

The wonderful Laura Fantucci has recommended us as a place to go for wedding makeup and private makeup workshops. I will be doing the beautiful Lura's makeup for her wedding in florence this summer and so looking forward to the trial this sunday.

WHAT TO KEEP:

Anything that is not squashed/broken /leaking!Any products that have past their sell by date should be thrown away! here is rough guide to the shelf life of products..

mascara 3-6 motnhs

foundation 2 years

concealer 2 years

lipstick 2-3 years

eyeshadow 5 years

blusher 5 years

cream blusher 2-3 years

I think one thing to definitely keep is your foundation if you are happy with the texture and colour.although it is nice to experiment with new formulations as foundations now tend to contain skin care in them and textures are constantly being improved.

WHAT WORKS ALL YEAR ROUND:

Mascara works all year round although it is nice to give your eyelashes a break on holiday.rather get them tintd and go mascara free!

Red lipstick works all year round

Natural lip colours work all year round although in winter it can be lovely to had some colour to the lips to wake the face up!

Eyeliner works all year round but it is often fun to experiment with some other colours than black in summer.try blue or brown it will soften your look!

Cream blusher i think works best in winter when the skin is drier and needs the natural glow that a cream blush can provide.

Powder blusher stays on better in summer as it has a drier texture and the skin generally is more oily in summer.You can choose a powder blush that has shine in it to give that beautiful glow.

Bronzer is best kept to summer,it will just look fake in winter and the tones will not work in winter light!

COLOUR TRENDS:

This year pastel makeup featured many times on the catwalk for summer.But one thing i would say is that if your skin had a darker tone it is best to stick to brighter tones of colour so that your skin does not look too ashy! If you want to add a pastel element to your lok go for pastel nails!

Also on trend for summer is a very made up natural/neutral makeup.This means sticking to all the lovely browns/taupes/golds/caramels etc...The face is very sculpted and the eyebrows are very strong to give the look a bit more of an edge! This look suits everyone think creamy smooth sculpted faces with no bright colour present at all!

Wow so....Finally the session school is going full time...It is so exciting to be able to offer so many hair and makeup courses that people can do in the weekdays or even at weekends!!! We are all very excited to train people professionally in hair and makeup @ the session school!!!

I really believe that there will not be a school like this....It is purely aimed at training people to work in fashion,beauty,advertising and much more!
